Bryan is 18 Months Old!

Last night, I met up with Alice & little Darrius - finally!! I'd missed the gathering at Barbara's house last Sunday since I was still recovering from a cough and cold. Not nice right....go and infect other people and kids with my germs. Darrius is soooooooooo cute!!! I could just stare and stare at him the whole night and I'll be full :) Will blog about our dinner once Alice sends me the photo that we took.

During dinner, Alice commented that I seldom blog about Bryan. Oops, this self-obssessed mummy too busy b*tching about herself. So I thought I take this opportunity to do so today in conjunction with Bryan turning 18 months today.

Some fast facts about the little cheeky monkey -

Height: Dunno cos never measure....lousy mummy
Weight: 14.5kg
Number of tooth: a pathetic 8, all at the front

Newly-acquired skills: Visually matching 2-piece puzzles, removing shirt, lifting one leg at a time to put on/remove pants
Skills which have yet to be mastered: Sleeping through the night (LOL)

Loves: his soy milk (poor boy still CMPA) - 8ozs thrice daily, cheese, biscuits.....generally, FOOD!, playing in the bath tub, lift-the-flap books, Barney, going to the playground with his Papa
Hates: Sleeping and anything that limits his freedom to move

On the whole, Bryan is a fun-loving toddler, whom at times drive his parents up the wall with his endless supply of energy. Not many complains about him because I'm just happy that he is who he is - a toddler who doesn't sleep no matter how tired he is. Bet in 18 years time, I'll be nagging him about sleeping too much!!!

Just like all my fellow bloggers out there, my son is my pride and joy :)

And the Results Are In!

I just returned from my monthly routine check at my ob-gyn's office. Also got the results from the Triple T test done on CNY eve. I'm pleased to say that all is looking normal though Dr Guna commented that I should slow down on the weight front! Ho! Ho! Ho! What to do.....CNY how not to makan besar right???!

And of course, I requested for the gender........and it's a BOY!!! Yup, Bryan will be Koko to his Didi very soon. Both VT and I are overjoyed that it's a boy.....actually, it didn't really matter as long as the baby is healthy. My colleague once played this "game" with me using a chain - supposed to read your aura and tell you the number of children you will have and the gender, in the correct order. Apparently, I will have 3 boys and then 1 girl. Let's see whether the next two are true since so far, the first 2 have been verified!

How Utterly Boring

Today is Lover's Day, but I'm down with a cough and cold. And I'm bored being at home, alone. Do we usual celebrate Valentines' Day? The answer is : No. Our most elaborate do had been a dinner at Burger King. With Bryan coming along, we almost disregarded this day.

Of course, this year I did something cheeky - I sent chocolates & flowers to VT at his office. I'd received a call from him at 12-ish today, telling me how embarassed he was! For me, it was "Mission Accomplished". I had CNY leftovers for lunch while watching soppy movies on HBO, before getting bored and I'd just finished reading the February edition of The Reader's Digest. Perhaps I'll go to the pharmacy later to get some Buds Mozzie Clear lotion. And then, there is him to look forward to :)

Happy Valentines' Day, everyone!

Our Chinese New Year

I consider ourselves lucky that CNY this year falls on Thursday & Friday such that we get a nice long 4-day weekend. In fact I was already on leave on the Eve but that was for running around. So, what were we up to?

Eve - Reunion dinner at PILs

1st Day - Customary mee suah lunch at PILs then to VT's granny place where all the relative congregate. VT has (had) 4 grannies but only 1 surviving (his) hence it's like a circus every year. The family custom is also to distribute 2 angpow packets per child, which aptly explains me wrapping 140 packets! This is my 4th years spending CNY with them but I still struggle with the names. I get by with "Aunty" and "Uncle"!

2nd Day - Lunch at my parents, who whipped up a storm! Can't remember much of the rest of the day since I was too stuffed with food!

3rd Day - Organised a small kiddies gathering at my place. Will blog about it separately.

4th Day - Went down to Klang to meet some more relatives (VT's side) and watched 4 straight hours of Barney thereafter as VT was napping and we couldn't go out!

Of late, Bryan has been waking up from his naps, crying hysterically. There was once when he cried and yelled for 40mins and didn't want to be put down. Nothing could pacify him until I gave him a small tub of ice-cream. I think it could be over-excitement from all the celebrations as he has been napping 45mins once a day during the holidays. Luckily, he is able to konk off for 11-13hours at night.

Tomorrow it's back to the grind.

Tasks Exodus

Whilst everyone settles down to celebrate the new lunar year, VT and I ran around like mad fools this morning and early afternoon to run our errands. Thank goodness we managed to convince my PILs to take care of Bryan today despite the both of us being on leave so that we could do all the running around.

I went to the Damansara Specialist Hospital first thing in the morning to do the triple T blood screening while VT took Bryan to the market with my PILs. It was over and paid for in 5mins as there were no other patient at the lab. I met VT back at home and headed out to Chore #1 - Grocery shopping. We have been so busy that we have not even bought drinks and mandarin oranges for our own home. Luckily the cookies were generously supplied by both my Mum and MIL. It was very pleasant walking around an empty Giant. I suppose anyone sane would have done their CNY shopping by now! I even managed to pick up some RM5.98 PJs for Bryan.

Then we popped by Jazz's place to drop off some angpow packets, which I've promised her for the longest time but never got around delivering them. Off we went back to DU Uptown to collect 2 roast ducks - one for the inlaws and one for my parents. With the duck, came the need to deliver them to the owners so back to PILs place and a 10mins drive to my parents.

We finally got home past 1pm. VT immediately started repairing all the bits and pieces which were falling off our house - towel hanger, kitchen shelf and tidying up the wires which have been left on the floor. Ladies, one quick note of advice - Nagging helps!! I put away the grocery and started on wrapping 140 packets of angpows. Yup, you heard me right - I'll blog about this another time because VT had just only come up, saw me blogging and set me on some tasks since I'm so "free".

I'm off to sort out his business cards into an organiser and also count 4 boxes of coins.

Meanwhile, here's wishing everyone:

"KUNG HEI FATT CHOY!!"

Love Is In the Air

Last Saturday, we attended an surprise engagement party (surprise to the bride-to-be lah) planned by the groom-to-be, Terrence who I've known since pimary school days. Finally, he proposed to his girlfriend of many years. He planned the whole setup which involved a yatching experience, proposal somewhere in the Straits of Malacca, a 1.11 carat diamond ring (jeepers!!!!) and champagne, which I allowed myself to sip about 0.1ml.

The party was held at the Royal Selangor Yatch Club in Port Klang. It took us more than 45mins to get there due to the traffic. Good thing is that my mother is from Klang so I know my way around the town. It was a blistering hot day but Bryan was oblivious to it. He was happily running around the compound which is built on stilts, being chased by my friend's 2yr old daughter and essentially, getting in people's way. We had to wait for an hour for the lovebirds to return from sea, do the whole "Surprise" thing, take photos before we were seated for lunch. I was feeling extremely tired that day so poor VT had to do all the running around. At the end, I couldn't decide who perspired more - VT or Bryan!

On the romance front, it is so nice to see 2 people in love and made me reminisce about my own proposal. Seemed like such a long time ago! I'm now looking forward to attending their wedding, which I heard, is slated for 2009.

Family potrait (hate my arms!!)

Bryan on the run!

Notice his red cheek caused by the heat?
