Another traumatic night for all 3 of us - VT, Bryan and myself. Bryan was still nursing a fever (about 37.5 degrees) when we returned home last night. I gave him a dose of paracetomal and stuck a slab of Kool Fever aid on his forehead when he was fast asleep.
He was tossing and turning the whole night, letting out little wails here and there. I suspect that it could be due to him teething as well because he has been salivating more than usual and had been thrusting 3-4 fingers into his mouth during the day. I applied some baby Orajel and Bryan managed to sleep a bit.
Then at around 4am, I could feel his body shiver and tremble. Surely that can't be a good sign! VT took his temperature and it registered 39.2 degress Celcius! We couldn't believe our eyes!! Took it again and same thing. We immediately packed him into the car (despite him protesting because he was rudely awoken) and sped to Damansara Specialist Hospital. The doc on-duty gave him a Voltren suppository to help bring down the temperature quickly. As usual, Bryan cried when the doc tried to listen to his heartbeat and examine his ears & mouth. Some conclusion as Bryan's paed - no signs of other symptoms.
We are getting more worried by the day that this could be dengue as there are usually no other symptoms as well. The rashes do not typically appear until Day 4-5 and today is Day 2. If his fever persists into Day 3, we will have to do a blood test for platet count.
Dear God, I pray to You that You will lay your healing hands on Bryan and that this is merely a viral infection which will clear itself soon. Please do not let harm befall on my baby boy. Amen.

Just continue to monitor Bryan's temperature. Sometimes it takes 2-3 days to subside.
Make sure you give him lots of liquid to keep him hydrated. Don't feed him anything solid... or oily stuff.
hope Bryan will get well soon. give him more liquid as it helps. when Iris didnt drink more water, her fever shot up to 39.9. she was already recovering days before, but didnt drink enuff liquid..
Will pray for Bryan's health too.. Poor baby.
Keep wiping his body down with wet cloth. I find that helps to lower the temperature. Kool Fever Aid isn't enough. We wipe Sean's armpits and whole body with luke warm wet cloth when he had a fever, it helps with cooling down the temperature.
oh dear...i hope it's not dengue, just another viral fever.
swab him with wet towel, it works very well though they will be screaming their lungs off...but the temp goes down immediately!!
Hope he has a speedy recovery!
My son is having viral fever. It may not be dengue for Bryan's case. Don't worry so much now but monitor his tempreture. Do rest more yourself cos I know you are as tired as me. I have just said a prayer for Bryan and my boy too and let's hope both of them get well really soon. Take care.
Don't jump to conclusions just yet. Monitor his temp and take note of his stools too. Wishing Bryan a speedy recovery.
Thank God Bryan is ok now. One word of advise - always keep stock of Volren suppository at home (and make sure that the strength of the Volren is suitable for his age). Kids are really prone to fever and Volren would be really helpful in the middle of the night.
